Happy New Year!  If you’re still trying to figure out what you’re going to do for a New Year’s resolution…don’t!!!  Years ago I decided that I would no longer set resolutions because I usually didn’t keep them….eat healthier, work-out more, cook more, blah, blah….

Instead, at the start of the year, I set goals that I want to achieve- personally, professionally, and with my photography business.  I say all that to say that at my full-time job, we committed to “Doing Everything Better in 2013”.  While, I do have goals that I have set…my ultimate goal is to apply this concept to every area of my life.  Now, with that said, I am sharing some of the things that I accomplished in 2012, so that you and I have a barometer by which to gauge my 2013 successes…No pressure, right?  Riiiiight!

In 2012, I:

– Shot a ton of families, friends and babies

– Completely revamped my branding and website with the help of the ladies at Earl & Layne

– Shot weddings in Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia

– Shot my first destination wedding in St. Lucia

– Attended my church’s first annual Women’s Ministry retreat

– Saw my niece graduate from high school….where does time go?

– Spent quality time with several beaches!

– Complete two 5K races- one was on Thanksgiving Day

– Traveled to Florida to see my favorite artist (Ledisi) in concert

– Completed a Natural Hair Photo shoot- each year I have a theme shoot that I want to personally accomplish

– Was the selected photographer for 2 styled wedding shoots

– Was the featured photographer for the Virginia Wedding and Event Network– Fredericksburg Chapter monthly meeting

– Spent two weeks in Boston (Bah-stan) because I started a new job!

– Participated in the International Help Portrait event

– Had personal photos taken with two of my photography mentors- Aviid Photography and Rae Images

– Had a Make-Up party and photo shoot for my friends for my birthday (go figure!)

– Was the featured photographer for Lend-a-Hand, Uplift-a-Child Foundation’s Boys to Men Forum

– Started Weight Watchers..

– Quit Weight Watchers (hehehe)

– Attended Jasmine Star’s “The Fix” workshop in D.C.

– Spent time with friends in Charlotte during CIAA weekend

– Attended my sorority chapter’s 80 Reunion in Greensboro, NC

– Enjoyed the holidays with my family!

I pray that 2013 has twice the fun and twice the success of 2012, but even if it only matches this list I am blessed. Make this a great year!
