Well, I don’t consider myself to be an event photographer, but on occasion, if my schedule permits, I will capture events that are near and dear to my heart.  I wish I could say yes anytime someone asks me to shoot their event, but with my focus on weddings, couples, and seniors, there simply isn’t enough time to do it all.

Recently, I traveled to my hometown of Greensboro, NC to participate in and capture the Delta Sigma Theta Centennial Torch Celebration.  This year marks Delta’s 100th year of existence so among the numerous events that I have been planned and executed around the country, the traveling torch is one of them.  The torch is making its way to 22 cities around the nation.  Greensboro, NC was one of the selected cities due it’s history with the Civil Rights Movement. The event was held on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University (my Alma Mater) in early June.  The morning of the event it was pouring rain so the original plan of meeting at the Greensboro Four statue was changed to an indoor location.  It was an honor to have notable Delta’s- from past presidents, to regional officers to current executive board members, city officials and the Greensboro Four (Dr. Joseph McNeil, Mr. Franklin McCain, Mr. Jibreel Khazan (formerly Mr. Ezell Blair, Jr.) and Mr. David Richmond, Jr. (standing in for the late Mr. David Richmond) in attendance along with hundreds of members of the sorority.

My father was recently featured in the small, local paper- The Carolina Peacemaker- for his coverage of Serena and Venus Williams at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, SC.  When I saw his article, I said that I would love to be featured one day because I remember reading that paper in high school and college anxiously looking for familiar names and faces.  Who knew it would happen so soon!  Thank you to the editor of The Carolina Peacemaker for the feature!
