Often when I am taking photos of my clients they give me strange looks when we first start.  This is usually because they are so used to standing in front of a camera and not moving.  However, my favorite photos of my couples seem to be when they are in the moment with one another and they aren’t just posed with a stiff smile while staring at the camera and in many cases they happen to have been moving.  They aren’t doing the type of moving that causes the photo to be blurry and they often think that if they are moving that will be the case.  Instead they are flowing naturally into a pose and those are the best moments to me.  I love natural expressions, laughter and love when it’s caught in the moment.

When Justin and Mary announced they would be offering a workshop in Charlottesville entitled “The Art of Authentic Posing”, I decided to attend in order to learn more techniques when it came to posing my clients.  This workshop allowed me to walk away with so many ideas that I plan to put into practice in my own way.  The photos below were taken after the lecture portion of the workshop where we were able to get some hands-on practice with 2 real couples and a bride.  Here are some of my favorites from the day:
