Lifestyle Changes + Healthy Eating

For those that truly know me, I try and pay attention to the foods that I eat, but I indulge on occasion and Red Velvet cupcakes are my absolute weakness!  We another photographer that I only know via social media challenged anyone that would accept to 30 days of clean eating.  I have been trying to get back into a routine since I’d returned from New Orleans but just needed a kick start (or restart) and this was it…not to mention that my clothes have been fitting a little snug lately.  The challenge started on Sunday, July 21st and I won’t post my starting weight.  I may (MAY) do that at the end.

I was busy with a photo shoot on Sunday and didn’t make it to the grocery store, so I made a trip on Monday after work to Wegman’s.  I decided to go there because I knew I needed alot of fresh fruits and veggies and I wanted to make sure anything out of the packaged goods sections were All Natural and did not contain refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup.  It actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be to find items but it did require me to read the food labels on the packages.

When I first walked through the produce department to get my fresh items, I noticed a Vitamix Display set-up.  I have heard about Vitamix from many of my co-workers and friends and had looked into getting one but I couldn’t bite the bullet because of the high price tag.  I thought “Why is a blender so expensive”.  The stand was empty so I kept walking.  I was in the process of wrapping up my shopping and needed to walk back towards produce for one more thing when I noticed a Vitamix rep at the station mixing something.  I pushed my cart over to the stand to watch.  He asked if I was familiar with Vitamix and I said that I was but didn’t want to pay that much for a blender.  Well, apparently that was the wrong thing to say because it then became his personal mission to show me all of the things that it could do.  Within 10 minutes he made me a smoothie, ice cream, hot soup, and a green juice!  Long story short, I was sold!  My co-workers had already told me how amazing it was, she showed me and random (non-paid) customers walked by to tout its glory!  So, to add to my 30 days of clean eating I introduce to you my new Vitamix…I named him Mixy and he came with 2 recipe books with tons of foods that I am excited to try!
