Because the wedding day is a new experience for brides, there are so many things they are trying to remember.  This post isn’t meant to add to the growing to-do list but it is meant for brides-to-be to review it early on in the process so that there are no last minute fire drills taking place on or right before the wedding day.  Let’s face it even the best made plan can get off track the wedding day, but there is no need to stress. Keeping a few tips in mind can create a stress-free and enjoyable day for the bride and groom.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when it comes to preparing for your wedding day photos!

1) Relax: On your big day your nerves will most likely be racing and that’s okay.  My style is to capture the nerves, the tears, the smiles and the hugs and kisses!  It’s okay to just be yourself versus trying to pose for the camera!

2) Family Matters: Please notify me of any family matters that may need special attention when it comes to posing the group for family photos. Sometimes family altercations may be difficult to discuss, but having a plan in place ahead of time makes for a less awkward situation if certain family members do not want to be near each other.

3) Make-Up: Certain types of mineral make-up look grey/yellow when the light hits it.  It may be necessary to do a make-up trial prior to your wedding day if you will be wearing products or colors that you do not normally wear.  Your engagement photo session is a great time to do a trial run of your wedding day make-up.

4) Ring Cleaning: A part of the wedding day experience with me involves me capturing the details of your day.  This includes taking photos of the rings.  Having a recently cleaned engagement ring will make for beautiful photos when placed next to your groom’s new ring!

5) Church/Ceremony Restrictions: Some churches or officiants have restrictions for photographers when it comes to capturing your wedding during the ceremony.  It’s important to know what, if any, those restrictions are and communicate those with the photographer.  This will give the photographer a chance to come up with a different plan to capture your nuptials.
