The setting was the cutest bookstore (BBGB Tales for Kids) in the Carytown area of Richmond, VA.  Derick is an illustrator and finishing up his degree and Lauren is in graduate school, so it made perfect sense to incorporate books into their session!  Derick even brought along one of his drawings that happened to be an illustration of him and Lauren on their wedding day this coming October.  The pair are uniting in holy matrimony in Atlanta, GA and my good friend Mecca Gamble is their wedding photographer!

The way that Derick and Lauren met was uncommon several years ago but is actually becoming more and more common as I meet more couples that are ready for love.  Internet dating brought these two together and to say that they are made for each other is an understatement!  Their energy was so fun that I laugh just as much as I captured photos!  This was definitely a fun session for me and their style is what every photographer hopes for when couples show up for their session!

While it was unseasonably cold during their session, like seriously cold…really cold LOL, they were troopers and braved it for some outdoor photos around Carytown and then at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. What I love about both of their location choices is that they spoke to who Derick and Lauren are as a couple and their interests.  It was authentic and genuine and they put thought into it.

Derick and Lauren, thank you so much for allowing me to document this part of your love story!  It was an absolute honor to meet you two and I wish you a lifetime of wedded bliss!!! 🙂
