Jon and Emily’s majestic St. Francis Hall wedding is featured over on Every Last Detail today!!! Check them out over there after reading their love story here!
Emily and Jon met in the Fall of 2011. They had a mutual friend who was determined to set them up. While she was not crazy at the idea of being set up, her sweet friend wouldn’t let it go. Her friend threw a party, asked Emily to come, and then secretly invited Jon too, so that we would have to meet! (sneaky, sneaky!) Jon and Emily met, eventually went on a few dates and the rest came so naturally that here they are on their August wedding day preparing to say ‘I do” in front of their closest friends and relatives.
Emily is the owner of DC-based wedding floral company- Love Blooms – so she incorporated her love of flowers into the day and she designed the bouquets and arrangements in a mix of purplue hues. Emily also followed the tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Her something old was an antique brooch she put on her bouquet handle. Her something borrowed was a handkerchief from her mother. Her something new was her Hayley Paige wedding gown from Love Couture Bridal, her gorgeous white sparkly Kate Spade heels, and her jewelry by Givenchy. Emily’s something blue was the blue streak of dye in her hair. Jon and Emily’s dog- AJ- also participated in their wedding ceremony as the couple’s ring bearer and was escorted down the aisle by Emily’s younger brother.
Besides the flowers, Emily also hand lettered the escort stones, table numbers, and other wedding signage. Emily also designed the save the dates from scratch and they were gorgeous! For the other important wedding day details, Emily really wanted to have people involved, whom she knew personally, so her wedding invitations were made by a graphic designer friend- Catherine Macarol of Small Doses of Wonder. Her hair stylist was Tammy Chestnutt is the stylist she has been going to for color for the past 4 years, so it only made since that she was a part of her big day! Her wedding planner was my maid of honor’s aunt- Donna Cramsey of Pizazz LTD. Emily chose to work with me after we worked together at Peter and Erica’s wedding in 2014 and Emily met her makeup artist- Tiffany Lumpkin- through a styled shoot they worked on together. Emily’s photo booth was through a friend of a friend and her DJ- Marc Wilner- was the DJ for a wedding she attended a few years prior. Emily and Jon maximized their relationships!
For the venue – St. Francis Hall, Emily went the opposite route and chose a venue she had never worked at before because she wanted something really unique! St. Francis Hall easily delivers in that aspect and the gardens of the Franciscan Monastery was the perfect backdrop for their first look and bridal party portraits! Emily and Jon chose their purple and gold color pallet after the venue because she wanted to match the medieval feel of the venue. When Emily and Jon saw the final set up on the wedding day she remarked “It looks exactly how I imagined it would look. I love it!”.
