On your wedding day, you’ve hired your photographer for a few reasons: you like their work, you felt a connection to their personality, and you trust them with capturing one of the most important days of your lives! A new trend that has changed the way brides envision their wedding day has surfaced and it’s called Pinterest!! Now, before you think this is a Pinterest-bashing session, it’s not! Sharing your Pinterest board with your wedding photographer and all of the wedding professionals that you will be working with gives us a better idea of your vision for the wedding day. However, if you become too tied to your Wedding Day Pinterest board, you run the risk of not allowing your wedding team to use their creative vision to execute your day, so today let’s tackle one portion of the photography creative process- “Trusting the Creative Process”.

I want to share a few reasons on why this is important:

1- The Vision

Often times, as photographers, we scout locations prior to shooting there. Whether it’s for your engagement session or wedding day, we want to see where the best light is and at what time of day that light hits, given similar weather conditions so that when we are there shooting with you we aren’t trying to figure these things out. If you insist on photos by a fountain at your venue or location at noon that is in direct or dappled lighting, it’s our job to offer you a better location because light trumps location for most photographers. If you are too tied to this location in the least ideal light, the chances of you loving those images may not be as great!

2- The Creative Process

If you hired a photographer because you like their style of photography, that’s a smart move because it means you have seen the work they produce and can imagine yourselves in those photos. Along with that comes their creative process no matter how subtle it may seem. Many photographers will use your Pinterest board for inspiration only versus mimicking another photographer’s work because that allows us to be creative. If you’re more open to this process you will be pleased with the outcome!

3- The Experience

When you hire your photographer, allow yourselves to enjoy the experience! When I think about my network of ladies that run The Bridal Space, I know that we all want out clients to enjoy an amazing experience! When you look at your images, we want you to remember the experience and not think about whether the photo that you’re viewing is the exact replica of your Pinterest board!

Friends, I hope this was helpful as you plan your amazing day! Remember, we want the best experience for you which results in the best images! Cheers!
