Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend re-starts wedding season for me.  As you may recall, Vernon and Catra’s wedding was in January, but it felt like it was still 2014 when I shot their wedding because I was still fulfilling client orders from last year’s brides.  At any rate, I’m excited to document Bobby and Jaimie’s Maryland wedding on Saturday and with this unpredictable weather, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather gods are working in our favor with a beautiful day.

As we do every Monday, here is a recap of this past weeks events:

– In case you missed it, on Thursday I launched my brand new promo film for Terri Baskin Photography and I am overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback, emails, text messages and calls I received!!  Thank you to everyone that viewed it!!!

– I did a countdown and teaser for the video and that was just as nerve racking as it was when I viewed the film for the first time.  I poured my heart into this project, so the countdown was so necessary IMHO!

– On Saturday, my favorite artist- Ledisi- performed in D.C., so I went to see her at DAR Constitution Hall.  This is the third time that I’ve seen both her and Raheem DeVaughn perform and they did not disappoint!  Any chance I get to see her live, I will do so because her voice is simply AH-MAZE-ing!

– On Sunday, I decided that I wanted to begin my adventure of visiting every museum in the Nation’s Capitol. I’ve been to several but had’t been to the Newseum! This museum spoke to me in so many ways.  It was amazing to see how much history has been documented and how many major news stories I’ve seen in my lifetime.  When I entered the gallery of pulitzer prize winning photographs, I saw this quote on the wall:

If it makes you laugh,
if it makes you cry,
if it rips out your heart,
that’s a good picture.
– Eddie Adams- Pulitzer prize-winning American photographer

And THIS is what I needed to see to be reminded of how I want to document my weddings this year and moving forward.  Below are a couple of iPhone photos from the weekend.  Cheers to a great week!
