Today marks the 12th year that’s passed since 9/11/01.  It’s unbelievable how much time has past yet the memory still lives as if it happened yesterday.  I recall where I was on 9.11.2001.  I was a Logistics Manager at the distribution center for Target Corporation in Indianapolis, IN.  I was on my way to work when I called one of my employees to get a status on the mornings’ freight traffic.  He told me that a plane hit the World Trade Center.  My response was something like an empty “oh no” because I thought it was a plane accident and while I understood that lives had been lost from this “accident” I figured the news reports would later detail what happened with the pilot or flight path.  When I arrived at work I stopped by my manager’s office and noticed that everyone was watching the t.v. that usually showed images of the distribution floor instead on this day it was showing the World Trade Center on fire.  We all stood there perplexed as we watch and listened to the news announcer who recounted what was happening in New York.  The shot went back to that of the World Trade Center and we looked as the second plane flew into the tower.  There was a collective gasp as we were all caught completely off guard.  This is when we realized that this was no accident.  The anchor confirmed that we were under attack. I can’t tell you how long we stood there silent, unproductive, and unable to fathom what was happening.  That evening and the days following I stayed glued to the t.v. every morning and evening to hear or other developments that had taken place.  To this day, I am still reminded that God has everything in control but it’s hard not to try and make sense of such a tragedy.  To everyone affected by this tragedy, I wish you continued or forthcoming peace. We will never forget.
