How They Met

A chance encounter in the university cafeteria would bring them into the attention of each other’s worlds, but it wasn’t until a mutual friend secretly brought them together were they formally introduced. There was definitely a mutual attraction and as Jessica states, “from that day forward it went from morning text messages to long phone conversations to our first date to forever…”

The Engagement

During a vacation celebrating Jessica’s 30th birthday and their relationship anniversary, on a beach in Mykonos, Greece – Idongesit “Umo” asked Jessica to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife – a perfect proposal and a moment neither will ever forget.

The Wedding Day

Jessica and Umo exchanged vows at the Historic Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD. Their black tie sunset ceremony was an elegant affair with Black, Gold and White decor with bountiful sprays of Baby’s Breath in talk gold vases that the bride pulled together herself. The couple opted to not share a first look, however they had a special first touch where Jessica asked Umo if he looked good…his response was “of course!” The guests were entertained by the sounds of Howard University’s Alumni Jazz Quartet prior to the start of the ceremony and during the reception, guests were able to feed their sweet tooth with Duck Donuts and Wedding Cake, take selfies with selfie sticks, and see an African Dance routine prior to the start of Umo and Jessica’s money dance.
