I am so thankful for snow days because it has allowed me to get caught up on a few blog posts! Yay! So, with that, I wanted to write up a recap of the Blink Conference that took place this past November in Austin Texas. Blink is a boutique conference started three years ago by Ike and Tash Photography + Motion. I love the vision behind this intimate conference because you can form true connections and really interact with the speakers. Oh and this year’s speaker line-up was awesome and it keeps getting more awesome year after year. If you are a photographer (any genre) and want to attend a conference that leaves you inspired, informed and connected, then this is the conference for you!
Let’s get started with a photo recap. I’ll also be posting a separate blog with highlights from one of the shoot outs that I participated in with Reg Campbell– a pretty dope San Antonio-based film photographer.
Daily there was a social media lunch time challenge. Two of the challenges were sponsored by Shootproof and Iris Works software. This was a fun twist to the day that allowed us to get creative and interact with other attendees.
The t-shirt design was done by my friend and brand killer- Britney Jeanine. Gah, I loved the options!
Oh and I won my FIRST actual photography award ever!!!!! Eeeeek!!!!!! Who knew that it would be in a category that I don’t primarily shoot- Boudoir!!! This was such as exciting feeling to have my peers vote my boudoir photo as one of their favorites. This was an anonymous competition, so that made it all the more better!!
Brand Strategist- Monique Melton was the Periscope queen during the conference. She interviewed all the speakers after their talks and this girl is unscripted and hilarious! She was so fun to watch!
I attended Justin and Mary’s breakout on lighting because they are gurus of lighting and I am always looking for ways to make my images more impactful. The photos below are where Justin showed us how to use flash to simulate natural light when there isn’t a presence of “clean” light.
My promo film videographer– Doug Stanford- was there taking video for the conference and as always this guy nailed the look, feel and fun of the entire conference!
The awesome 2015 Speaker Line-Up Included: Justin and Mary, Katelyn James, Leah Remillet, Christine Ramirez, Sasha Holloway of Bleulips, Jean Smith, Britney Jeanine, Reg Campbell, Amanda Diaz, Spanki Mills, and Silver Lane.
