For many teenagers going to college means their first big solo adventure away from home, meeting new friends, and walking across the stage a few years later with a diploma.  College for Leatah and Robert meant finding each other!  Leatah met Robert while they were at a local bowling alley with a group of mutual friends.  They were introduced to one another but not much came of  it that evening except a few pleasantries.  Robert celebrated his birthday, asked Leatah to dinner a few days later and now they are planning a 2014 wedding!

I love asking couples about how they met and how the proposal happened.  My first question after I hear the story always happens to be “did you know he was about to propose?”, some of my brides have an idea and some don’t.  Leatah and Robert’s first date was to TGIFriday’s.  On the night that Robert proposed, they went back to Friday’s with friends.  Robert told their mutual friend that Friday’s was the location of their first date and then said to Leatah  “and this is where I will ask you to be my wife”. How thoughtful!!!  Leatah didn’t know the proposal was coming, but she obviously said yes!  I look forward to documenting their wedding next year.

For their engagement session, we met at the National Harbor. While the weather was nice, it was extremely windy so it made it difficult to get many images outdoors.  Since their first date and proposal happened at Friday’s it seems only natural to take some engagement pictures there…stay tuned!  For now, here are a few of my favorite images from our time together.
