2014 has been an amazing year and I have been so extremely fortunate to have been a part of some amazing weddings!  One of the many reasons why I love engagement sessions is because it gives me a chance to get to know a couple in a relaxed environment, they can get used to my style of photography and they can have professional photos to incorporate into their wedding day, if they so desire!  Jarryd and Natalie came to me as a referral from another one of my 2014 couples- Keith and Ashley!  It’s interesting when Jarryd asked me how people find me, because I have realized for some time that most of my business comes from referrals.  On occasion, I meet new couples that found me thru a Google search or from seeing my work somewhere online, but more have been by word of mouth from past clients or from peers in the industry.

Natalie and Jarryd’s love story began four years ago when mutual friends set them up on a blind date.  Jarryd figured since it was close to Halloween that going to a haunted house would be a fun and low-pressure outing!  Towards the end of the evening, Jarryd was preparing to ask Natalie for her number, but she was a step ahead of him and said “aren’t you going to ask for my number?”.  One of the things that stood out to me was that Jarryd had been looking for a Christian woman and found his hearts desired in Natalie!

During our D.C. engagement session, both Jarryd and Natalie talked about being sky and awkward in front of the camera, which most people tend to be when we first start but about 10 minutes into the session they were already pros! We decided to incorporate some monuments into the session because Jarryd wanted the pictures to have a D.C. feel to them and Natalie wanted to have water in some of the photos, so they were able to get the best of both worlds! Jarryd is an Alpha, so we also shoot some photos near the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.  I love when couples have ideas for their session and trust me to bring them to life.  Natalie and Jarryd, I am honored to be your wedding photographer and I look forward to documenting the rest of your love story in 2015!  Here are a few of my favorite images:
