One of the amazing photography communities that I am a part of (Showiteers)  hosted a webinar tonight with Kevin Hall, the author of Aspire.  Tonight I learned the meaning of Gehshai and the power that words have over our lives.  Kevin also discussed finding and following our purpose. In this dog-eat-dog world that we live in and especially what can sometimes exist within the photography and wedding industry, I am happy to learn and apply this new term.

Genshai is an ancient word from India meaning to never treat another person in a manner that would make them feel small, including yourself.

While I am still learning the principles behind this philosophy, on the surface it makes total sense and regardless of what I encounter on a day-to-day basis I will keep this definition in the back of my mind.  I aim to be a better person and regardless of what I encounter whether in my career, in the photography community or in life, I will remind myself of the following affirmations.

The 5 Affirmations:

1- I am worthy

2- I am capable and grateful

3- I forgive myself and others

4- I am abundant

5- I trust myself
