I’m smiling as I type this because I am one step closing to checking the box on another one of my 2014 photography goals! This weekend one of the photography conferences that I almost attended last year is starting – United 2014. See, last year I allowed fear to take over and convince me that I could never attend a large photography alone, so I didn’t go. This year, I am kicking fear in the butt and attending and I have already made a few new friends by just registering!!!

I am so excited and a little nervous about it but guess what? I’m going! I am also excited about visiting my old stomping grounds (I sounded like my dad just now!) and reconnecting with some old buddies in Los Angeles. After a quick L.A. visit, I’ll head up to Santa Barbara for an action packed conference. The past attendees are already warning us how tired we will be from all of the learning and I believe it! I am excited to hear some of my favorite photographers speak again like Justin & Mary, Katelyn James and Zach Gray. In addition to the awesome line-up, there are going to be some amazing shoots happening!

During this trip, I will be taking both my digital and film cameras.  One of the classes that I will take will be a film class so I am excited to finally be taking the plunge into film and really testing and developing (lol, no pun) myself as a photographer.  I am excited to see what the next few days hold and I’m sure I’ll be tracking my journey on Instagram, so check me out at @terribaskin.
