A few years ago I was approached by a parent wanting me to take senior portraits of her daughter.  I remember taking my senior portraits in high school and how I had my hair styled, new outfits selected and appointment time confirmed.  Well, while I like my portraits to this day, it was like an over-priced factory production with the portrait company ushering in one senior after another, taking a few shots and moving us along.  I only have the photos that I purchased which consisted of about 4 poses.  So I knew that taking my friend’s daughter’s photos should be a different experience, one where I only focused on her for that session and where she would have the images for years to come.

I didn’t dive completely into the senior market until another client asked to me to take her daughter’s portraits as well.  She in turn became my biggest source of advertisement because she made a slide show of the images to play at her daughter’s graduation and when I arrived she announced that I was the photographer that had taken the photos.  I was caught by surprised and slightly embarrassed but it made me feel great when I left her graduation party with additional clients ready to schedule sessions for their seniors!

With the class of 2014, I decided to dive completely in to senior photography and offer it as a part of my business, which has previously focused on Weddings and Portraits.  I consider senior portraits different from a regular session with couples or a family because this is one of the first times that a young lady or male gets to take individual photos outside of the annual yearbook photo.  Also, I incorporate make-up into the session if desired, I help with clothing selections, and locations and usually spend more time editing their photos because some of them tend to be close shots of the face.

So I introduce you to my 2014 Senior Style Team!
