April 1st began a series that will allow me to be transparent about the people that have influenced my personal and professional growth.  When I look at where I have achieved success, I can honestly say that I never did it alone.  There was always someone there that believed in me, motivated me, encouraged me, or pushed me to continue.  This series is dedicated to those people!

DAY 4: LAURA HUNTLEY PHOTOGRAPHY

Laura’s Photo Credit: Brittnee Baskin (My Niece)

Today’s post is dedicated to another sweet friend from high school- Laura Huntley Photography.  Laura was actually the very first person to spend one of her evenings helping me learn studio photography.  I had a photo session with of nieces and nephew with Laura several years ago and she was one of the first people that came to mind as I was looking for help with learning photography.  After I purchased my first camera, I asked her if she would be willing to show me the ropes a little in her studio. Laura was so kind and giving of her time and information and she wouldn’t allow me to pay her.  Instead she just told me to help someone else! It’s rare to find someone like this today.  She gave me book recommendations, equipment recommendations, allowed me to take notes of her every words and even let me toy around with her camera and lens to show me how she does things.

My niece is currently attending college and has an interest in photography and directing films and one of her classes was to interview a business owner.  I reached out to Laura to see if she would be willing to help out and again she came thru.  She helped my niece with her project and allowed her to go out one day and learn the ropes with her.  Laura, although this all started several years ago I have to publicly thank you for pouring your knowledge into not only me but also into Brittnee.  Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
