Over the holidays I had a chance to visit my family.  I love being able to have some down time and just hang out with my parents and other relatives.  As much as my family follows my photography and my accomplishments, I had not actually had my parents in front of my camera since the first day I bought my first DSLR.  Sure, they have been in family photos or other functions where they are pictured but they hadn’t taken photos of just the two of them.  Boy, I didn’t realize the challenge that I was in for.  I actually told them they were fired by the end of our 10-minute session because they were so silly!

I am fortunate to see their marriage withstand the test of time and they serve as my example that it can work if both people are willing.  My parents were married in June 1970 in Greensboro, NC, the year following my dad’s graduation from North Carolina A&T State University.  So for 43 years, they have been in this life together!  No wonder they can’t take photos like most of my couples.  When I told them to look at each other, my mom’s response was “do I have to?”.  My dad was more focused on making sure his shirt properly displayed his (and my) Alma Mater more than anything else.  Talk about “Aggie Pride”!  On weekends during football season, you can find my parents at a tailgating party or inside the stadium watching the game.  They plan events around Aggie Football.  A visit to Virginia can only happen when there isn’t a home game! Other times during the month, my parents are hanging out with their Social Circle of married friends attending plays, dinners or game nights.  Now that you know a little more about the folks I call mom and dad, here are a few of their photos!
