It’s a beautiful thing when two people find each other, no matter how many miles away they may be at the time.  Tommie and Monica met through a friend of Tommie’s a few years ago while Tommie was living in Wisconsin and Monica was living in Washington, D.C.  Over 60 plane rides and 50,000 miles traveled they are finally husband and wife!

When Monica contacted me about possibly being their wedding photographer I was elated.  I met Monica in college and she was and still is one of the nicest people that I know.  I loved her attention to detail leading up to and on the wedding day….I guess that’s the engineer in her!  When I walked into her bridal suite she had the perfect amount of window light pouring in and a beautiful dozen of red roses from Tommie.  I could feel the love in the room as I also saw numerous greeting cards from her closest friends and her best friend and maid of honor- Teresa- was ready to assist where needed.  Monica was calm as she was having her make-up applied because she had a great team of wedding planners taking care of everything she needed behind the scenes.  Seeing this calm makes me wish all brides invested in wedding planners.

I love how much style went into their day from the classic Rolls Royce to the purple and orange color detail throughout all of the details from the invitations to the bouquets to the cake decoration and the wedding and reception details.  I think my eyes light up when I see a bride’s vision come to life like this.

Tommie and Monica opted to do a first look due to the days being shorter, which gave them a moment to spend together before the ceremony as well as getting additional portraits while catching the final stretch of Fall colors.  I knew their guests were just as excited as they were when Tommie walked down the aisle to a round of applause!  The couple wrote their own vows and gosh, the amount of heartfelt words they expressed to one another thru their vows was admirable!
