I first met Robert and Leatah last year when they began their search for a wedding photographer. I thought they were a cute couple knew that I would enjoy working with them! I was impressed with Leatah’s attention to detail as she went through her list of questions about my experience as a wedding photographer. Later in the conversation when I realized she had as much of an appreciation for photography as I did I became even more excited, yet slightly nervous, to be their wedding photographer.

Robert and Leatah have a romance that spans 7+ years and I loved when her mom made the comment to me during the wedding reception “we’ve been waiting a long time for this day”. During the toasts, Robert’s brother officially welcomed Leatah to their family. From the interactions on both sides, I could tell there was already a strong bond present.

What started as a first date at TGIFriday’s led to an engagement at the same location and ultimately a few engagement photos at the exact same Friday’s culminated with a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the golf course at Augustine Golf Club in Stafford, Virginia. The forecast called for rain, so I was extremely elated that Mother Nature was kind to this awesome couple. The staff was courteous and professional and the golfers that were present paused their game and allowed us to grab bridal portraits.

I love golf course weddings because I can almost guarantee that the grounds will be well manicured and who doesn’t love a quick ride in the golf cart?!? I also love how Leatah incorporated items from her roots into their wedding day with her origami cranes place cards, oriental cookie favors, and an origami ceremonial backdrop to compliment her peacock-inspired theme.
