Weddings, a Museum, Sore Muscles, and Popcorn…

This weekend, what should have been pretty slow with one wedding and a rest day turned into quite the weekend to remember.

Umo and Jessica shared their nuptials in a gorgeous Black, Gold and Ivory ceremony at Newton White Mansion in Mitchellevile, MD. I love this property and their beautifully manicured grounds. While the couple had a sunset ceremony we were able to grab a few night portraits afterwards. More from their fabulous day and their amazing cast and crew of family and friends is coming soon!

A huge deal around D.C. this weekend was the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. It’s been a long time coming and despite the crowd, this museum was nothing short of amazing!!!! I hope everyone gets a chance to experience this museum atleast once, but it will definitely take more than one day to take in all of the history. The curators did an amazing job with the displays, artifacts, and information presented!

After leaving the museum, my friends and I went to lunch at Matchbox at Pentagon City and I made the mistake of entering the mall from the Metro stop entrance and spotting Garrett’s Popcorn!!! OMG, I knew there was one opening in Pentagon City Mall but failed to realize it was already open, so needless to say, I walked out with a large Chicago Mix!! In D.C. they call it “Garrett’s Mix”, but when I first waited in line on a whim on a cold night while visiting Chicago in 2001 and ordered the Chicago Mix because that’s what everyone said to order, I knew my decision making (or lack of restraint) was above average!!!!

After all was said and done, we arrived back home on Sunday and I could barely walk because my muscles were so sore from the wedding and adventures on Sunday! My friend shared that rolling a tennis ball on the sore areas can help with my problem and luckily I found one in my garage! It’s Monday and I feel so much better!!
